My book, Chief of Staff: The Strategic Partner Who Will Revolutionize Your Organization, includes practical information about why and how top and emerging leaders hire a chief of staff. It is the culmination of two-and-a-half years of research, including scores of interviews with board members, C-suite executives, their chiefs of staff, and the HR executives who supported them. I have a rapidly-growing, global network of chief of staff-related stakeholders across industries.

I want a speaker on the chief of staff role
Are you looking for someone to speak on the chief of staff role at your conference or business networking group? I can speak about the role as a risk mitigation strategy, talent management tool, and productivity multiplier. If you have a specific topic you’d like covered, I’ll let you know if I have the data and information to support a presentation on it. Contact me at the information provided below for further information and rates.
U.S. veterans often bring to businesses skills, experience, and values that can’t be taught in business schools or working one’s way up in an organization. It’s one thing to commit to and invest in hiring veterans, but if you don’t retain those veterans it can cost you that investment. Focus on retention leads to better returns on that investment. I have built a coaching program for veterans and their organizations that helps individuals and teams, from individual contributors to the c-suite:
Prior to becoming a Hudson-certified executive and leadership coach, I built and managed teams in the US Marine Corps, Fortune 100 and small business, and nonprofits. I’m a mentor with Boots to Shoes and an active member of the King County Veteran’s Consortium, where I am connected to a wealth of agencies and resources available to help veterans in transition.
Whether you want to:
You have a vision of the kind of leader you want to be. So, what’s holding you back?
I start with a framework that considers who and where you are in your life stage, your different life roles, and your highest values, to help you create and follow your best way forward. Then, I follow a methodology in which you and I set concrete plans and practices, apply timelines, and achieve your goals.
I also offer two types of 360° review, a standard review and an interview-intensive review. These are usually offered in conjunction with Leadership and Management Coaching.
Standard 360° review. I will evaluate a questionnaire completed by you and gather feedback through written responses to the questionnaire from your manager(s), direct reports, and peers. I will compile and summarize data, and we will use the feedback to co-create your next actions.
Interview-intensive 360° review. This review is like the standard review, except that instead of simply gathering written feedback, I also use individual, face-to-face, or teleconference interviews with your manager(s), direct reports, and peers. These interviews enable me to ask more questions for clarity, ask for specific examples, and analyze and interpret the written feedback more deeply.
This coaching is best suited for individual clients.
My customized workshops on management, leadership, and career topics have received top marks from course participants. Past examples:
I have built teams from the ground-up, I have inherited teams, and I have led and worked on newly combined teams and facilitated team discussions around common vision, strategy, and goals. Nearly all team activities involve individual coaching follow-up to ensure concepts are being applied (research shows that training followed by coaching increases productivity as much as 88%).
